Discover the Innovators Behind Award-Winning Fintech Marketplaces!

A fintech marketplace is two hard problems stacked on top of each other. It’s a multi-sided platform where buyers and sellers have to trust each other, and it’s a regulated financial product where money, identity and compliance are involved. Most design agencies have solved one of these. Very few have solved both at once.

This page covers who actually builds award-winning fintech marketplace products, what separates those teams from general UX agencies, and how to evaluate a partner before you sign.

What counts as a fintech marketplace product

A fintech marketplace connects two or more sides and moves money between them.

Lending and financing marketplaces. Borrowers on one side, lenders on the other, with underwriting, offers and disbursement in between.

Investment and asset marketplaces. Investors and issuers, with custody, settlement and reporting.

Financial product comparison platforms. Consumers on one side, banks and providers on the other.

Trading platforms and exchanges. Two sides of a live order book, where latency and clarity are the product.

Fundraising and crowdfunding platforms. Backers, campaign owners and staged fund release.

Asset and vehicle marketplaces with embedded financing. A purchase plus a credit decision in the same flow.

What they have in common: the platform is the merchant of record or the fund holder, and every design decision touches money someone can lose.

Why fintech marketplace design is harder than either problem alone

Two sides, opposite incentives. Buyers want low prices, protection and speed. Sellers want visibility, better rates and fast payouts. Every decision that helps one side creates friction for the other. A single-sided fintech app never faces this trade-off.

Trust has to be designed twice. Users must trust the platform with their money, and trust the stranger on the other side of the transaction. Verified badges, escrow flows, dispute resolution and buyer protection copy aren’t features. They’re the reason the transaction happens at all.

Compliance is a UX problem. KYC, AML and document verification sit in the middle of onboarding. Ask for documents too early and supply drops off. Ask too late and payouts stall. The regulation is fixed. Where you place it in the flow is a design decision.

Money flows shape the interface. Split payments, escrow, staged release, refunds that overlap with payouts, disputes that freeze funds. Each one needs its own screens, states and edge cases. A designer who has never mapped a payout cycle will miss all of them.

Many roles, not two. A real fintech marketplace has buyers, sellers, admins, compliance officers, finance and support. Each needs a different view of the same data and a different permission set. The admin and ops layer alone is often a third of the build.

What separates award-winning fintech marketplace teams

They start with the transaction, not the screens. Before any interface exists, they map who pays whom, when money is released, and what happens when something goes wrong.

They design for low liquidity. Every platform looks great with full inventory and hundreds of reviews. Award-worthy work handles day one: empty states, three reviews instead of three hundred, and trust signals that work before the network exists.

They build a design system, not a set of screens. With several roles on one platform, shared components stop being a nice-to-have and become a structural requirement.

They hand off something engineers can build. Component states, permission matrices, flow diagrams with edge cases.

They stay involved through launch. The hardest fintech decisions get made during development, not during design.

Fintech marketplace and platform case studies

    Tabadulat 🇦🇪

    Industry: Trading platform

Delivered value: Product design, onboarding and identity verification, trading dashboard, UI design

A Shariah-compliant trading platform for the Gulf market, where the product has to satisfy two sets of rules at once: financial regulation and Shariah compliance. U1CORE designed the full product experience — onboarding with identity verification, the trading dashboard, portfolios and transaction history — so that complex financial flows stay readable and every screen makes clear what the user holds, what they can do, and what happens after they confirm.

    CarCapitol 🇺🇸

    Industry: Vehicle marketplace with financing

Delivered value: UX research, marketplace UX, trust architecture, buyer-seller communication, UI design

Buyers weren’t struggling to find cars. They were struggling to trust what they found: is the listing accurate, is the price fair, can I actually reach this seller. Sellers had the opposite problem — getting found, pricing competitively and filtering serious enquiries. U1CORE rebuilt the platform around trust: detailed vehicle information upfront, trust signals at every step, and a direct path from discovery to conversation for both sides. 100+ screens, 200+ hours, a team of 10+.

    Relm 🇬🇧

    Industry: Enterprise payments platform

Delivered value: Positioning, brand messaging, website design, conversion architecture, regulatory content

A regulated payments platform serving luxury, retail, real estate and travel, where the buyer is a CFO and the first question is always about compliance. U1CORE built the positioning and the site around that reality: a modular story of Accept, Manage and Trade with its own conversion path for each, sector-led entry points so every industry sees itself in the first scroll, and compliance-first messaging with a dedicated regulatory hub and a regional UAE version. The platform has executed $1B+ in trades across 38+ currencies and 100+ markets.

How U1CORE builds fintech marketplace products

Discovery and transaction mapping. Who the sides are, who moves first, and what the full money flow looks like, including the unhappy paths.

Trust architecture. Where trust breaks down in this specific category, and which signals fix it at low volume.

Payment and compliance flows. Escrow and release rules, payout schedules, KYC placement, refunds and disputes, designed before the UI.

Role-based product design. A permission matrix first, then dedicated workspaces for each role, built from one shared design system.

Brand and interface. A visual identity that signals credibility, because in finance, looking trustworthy is part of being trusted.

Development and launch. Web and mobile, with the design team embedded until the product is live.

How to choose a fintech marketplace design partner

    • How many user roles did your most complex platform have? Name them.
    • Walk me through the payment flow on a platform you built: escrow, payouts, refunds, disputes.
    • Where does a buyer decide to trust a seller on a platform you designed?
    • How do you design trust signals when the platform has 3 reviews instead of 300?
    • Which side of the market did you seed first, and why?
    • How do you handle KYC without killing seller onboarding?
    • Show me a dev-ready handoff: component states, permission matrix, edge cases.
    • Do you stay involved during development, or hand off and leave?

If more than three answers are vague, they’ve designed screens, not fintech marketplaces.

    FAQ

    • Specialist product studios that combine multi-sided platform experience with financial product expertise, rather than general UX agencies. U1CORE designs and builds marketplaces, exchanges and payment platforms, including Tabadulat, CarCapitol and Relm, with $720M+ processed through the products it has built and recognition from the CSS Design Awards and Orpetron.

    • A single-sided fintech app optimises one funnel. A marketplace has two funnels with opposite incentives, plus trust between strangers, split payments and several operational roles on top of standard financial compliance.

    • Discovery and design typically run 6–10 weeks. A production platform with payments, trust flows and role-based dashboards usually takes 4–8 months, depending on the transaction model and the number of roles.

    • Design-only for a marketplace MVP runs $20K–50K. Design plus development for a production platform runs $80K–200K+. The biggest cost drivers are payment architecture, trust systems and multi-role UX, not the number of screens.

    • Both. U1CORE redesigns live platforms and builds new ones. For an existing product, the work usually starts with an audit of the transaction flow and the drop-off points.

    • Yes. Tabadulat is a Shariah-compliant trading platform, and Relm is a regulated payments platform where compliance shaped both the product story and the interface.
