Aluna

Aluna is a calm, AI-powered wellness app that helps users balance mind, body and soul through mindful check-ins, gentle guidance, and immersive minimal iOS UI.

A wellness app concept built around calm, clarity, and daily rhythm. AI-powered check-ins, minimal iOS screens, and a visual language designed to reduce stimulation — not add to it.

Task

The task was to design a full mobile UI concept for Aluna — an AI-powered wellness app for iOS. The goal was to create an experience that feels genuinely calm: one that helps users build a consistent mind-body-soul practice without overwhelming them with content, metrics, or decisions.

Challenge

Most wellness apps contradict their own purpose. They’re busy, notification-heavy, and data-obsessed — the opposite of what someone trying to slow down actually needs. The challenge was to design an experience that reduces stimulation at every step. Every screen, every interaction, every piece of copy had to earn its place by making the user feel calmer, not more engaged.

Results

The result is a minimal, immersive iOS UI that guides users through daily wellness rituals without friction or noise. Soft visual language, gentle transitions, and a focused information hierarchy create an app that feels like a pause — not another thing to manage. AI-powered check-ins surface the right prompts at the right moment, adapting to the user’s rhythm rather than demanding they adapt to the app.

Project Timeline

  • Research

The research phase focused on understanding how people actually use wellness apps — and where they stop. The key insight: most users abandon wellness apps within two weeks, not because the content is bad, but because the experience feels like another obligation. We mapped the emotional journey of someone trying to build a wellness habit and designed around the moments where drop-off typically happens.

  • Briefing

The brief called for a wellness app that felt genuinely different from the category. Not another tracker. Not another content library. A daily companion that meets the user where they are — calm, focused, and free of the visual noise that makes most health apps feel like work.

  • UX Research

UX research focused on the onboarding flow and daily check-in experience. We tested how much information users were willing to engage with at different times of day, and what prompts actually shifted their mood or behavior. The findings shaped a check-in flow that takes under 60 seconds and always ends with one clear, actionable insight.

  • Moodboard

The moodboard drew from meditation spaces, natural textures, and minimal iOS design systems. Soft gradients, generous white space, muted earth tones, and fluid typography. The reference point was an experience that feels like taking a breath — before the user has even done anything.

  • Design Concepts

Two design directions were explored: one built around a dark, immersive night-mode aesthetic; the other around a soft, light palette that shifts throughout the day. The final concept merged both — a dynamic visual system that adapts to morning, afternoon, and evening sessions, reinforcing the app’s core message: wellness has a rhythm.

  • UI Design

The UI design delivered a complete iOS screen set — onboarding, home, check-in flow, mind/body/soul modules, progress view, and settings. Every component was designed to feel effortless: large touch targets, minimal navigation, and typography that reads clearly without demanding attention. The result is a UI system that disappears into the experience.

  • UI Kit & Closing

The final deliverable included a complete UI kit with components, color tokens, typography scales, and spacing guidelines — everything needed to hand off to development or extend the design system as the product grows.

We wireframed the authentication and onboarding screens to validate layout, hierarchy, and form usability. Prototypes helped refine field behavior, error states, and the path to account creation, ensuring a smooth and intuitive first-time experience for users
